How to Calculate Vacation Leave Days (Thai Labor Law)
Under the Thai Labor Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998), employees who complete 1 year of service are entitled to at least 6 vacation days per year (companies may offer more).
Minimum Legal Entitlement
- 1 year of service → 6 vacation days/year
- Companies may add more in later years (e.g., 7-12 days)
- Unused days may carry over per company policy
Proportional Calculation
Vacation days = (months worked ÷ 12) × annual entitlement
Example: 6 months worked, 6-day annual entitlement:
- (6 ÷ 12) × 6 = 3 days
More Examples
| Tenure | Entitlement (6 days/year) |
|---|---|
| 3 months | 1.5 days |
| 6 months | 3 days |
| 9 months | 4.5 days |
| 12 months | 6 days |
